"The best of you is he who learns the Qur'an and teaches it."
Due to the importance of Islamic science, which is one of the main pillars of the establishment of religious societies, Umutevi Charity has been keen to support this sector in the northern countryside of Aleppo. The project's main target was Afrin city and its towns because it suffers from a noticeable weakness in projects related to this aspect.
ELLA SALATI Project
Three projects have been worked on; the first is the (ELLA SALATI) project, which was done in cooperation between the charity and the Directorate of Endowments of the city of Afrin and the Sham Preachers Association.
The (ELLA SALATI) project aims to educate youth about the spiritual aspect of life, morals, and the importance of doing good deeds. The project took a place at Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque. It targeted nearly 200 young people and provided them with various activities and competitions which encouraged them to perform the prayers, avoid bad manners, and improve their morals. Later, Umutevi Charity has held a closing ceremony to award the participants on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in 2019.
The Holy Qur’an Buds Project
The second project was the Holy Qur’an buds, which was launched in Afrin in coordination with the Ifta Department in the city. The goal of the project was to support youth and encourage them to memorize the Noble Qur’an within mosques in remote villages in the Afrin region. These areas suffer from great weakness in this aspect.
During the first phase, the project targeted 300 male and female students within two villages: Maabatli Village – Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque and Kawkaba Village – Kawkaba Mosque.
The second phase of the project targeted 1000 male and female students in 6 advocacy centers within the following regions:
１. The city of Afrin: within the chapel of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, the Anas Ibn Malik chapel, and the Ghosn Alzaytoon Mosque
２. Yakhour village
３. Kawkaba Village
４. The town of Mabatli
The supporting of Sharia school's students Project
Finally, the third project, which was supporting the students of the Sharia school in Afrin financially to use the transportations and reach their school. The importance of this project arose because of the lack of public transportation in that area, and the high cost of private transportation. The targeted students’ group were the ones who lived in areas far from the school.
